Reversing the Trend
People are inherently valuable not because of what they “do” or how they look, but because they are created in the image of God. Unfortunately, because many people so closely identify with a particular group that they, at best, overlook and often “rank” others based on misconceptions. This leads to tremendous hurt, pain, segregation, isolation, fear, judgement, and hate.
The Inherent Value of People aims to destroy the misconceptions of value by telling the stories of real people from around the world. In doing so, we will find that regardless of race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, or location, we all share common themes, desires, and stories. We are all connected. We are all valuable. We are all created in the image of God.
Locations selected will include a cross-section of cultures including First and Third World countries, and “forgotten people.”
Modalities of storytelling:
Images. Photos of each person highlighted will be taken throughout the routine of their daily life. Each image will capture the essence of the person and their unique beauty.
The images will be compiled in a gallery showing and also in a coffee table book for purchase.
Documentary. A documentary of the entire experience will be filmed.
One hundred percent of the profits from this coffee table book and documentary will go into a fund to help support the at-risk individuals/families/communities represented throughout this process. Funds will either be funneled through an existing non-profit or micro-financing organization.
